Thank you for visiting my website. My name is Michael Wentz and I ran the Sinister 7 in 2011. I finished the Sinister 7 without having never set foot on the course and while working a full time job. On top of that, I am still married! Click Here for MY STORY
I have chronicled my training process and story in a book called "Surviving The Sinister 7".
Are you thinking of participating in the Sinister 7 in 2012? How about 2013 or maybe 2014? If the answer is yes, then you have just made one of the most paramount decisions of your life! As you may well know (or maybe not), this race is truly challenging and will push your physical and mental capacities to the limit. The race covers 148 kilometers over multiple mountains and across several creek crossings. This race is epic and one that, if you do prepare and train, will have you crossing the finish line in what can be termed as both a monumental physical and mental victory.
This book will help train you physically, prepare you mentally, and most of all, will help you get across that finish line. With a lot of hard work, dedication, commitment, and learning and using the tips and hints from this book, you will have a complete toolset that will help you complete this race and finish with your body still in one piece!
This book, although aimed at soloists, is useful to a relay runner or a relay team, as well. The goal is to help you, step by step, on what it will take to finish the The Sinister 7. Are you ready to take on the challenge? Are you tough enough to complete this journey of hardship and suffering? Only the strongest will survive and reign victorious.
Will you be one of them?
WHY LISTEN TO ME?
Some of you are likely wondering why should I listen to this guy?! Where is his credibility? Feel free to read my reviews on my most recent book, Conquering The Canadian Death Race. This does not make me an expert but merely an average runner that has completed two of the world's hardest ultra marathons the first time around. I reiterate that I am not an elite runner. I live at sea level, and I only spent six months training specifically for each race. At the time of the Canadian Death Race, I had only finished one other ultra of 50 miles (the North Face Challenge in San Francisco a year prior) and one official marathon (the LA Marathon - which I completed during my training). At the time of running the Sinister 7, my biggest accomplishment was the Canadian Death race.
"That being said, the most important aspect of my race preparation was the meticulous research and planning that I put in to get myself ready."
So, why would you take my advice? I am quite sure that most of you that are reading this are likely not elite runners, but are runners more like myself. It is my thinking that most of you will likely benefit more from the advice and experience of a runner that is more like yourself. Please take the time to visit Michael Wentz's Personal Website for more information if you would like. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have
